You're invited to our 2024 Banned Books Week Read-Outs, Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24, 12-2 p.m. outside the William H. Hannon Library. The focus will be banned and challenged books related to LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. If you're interested in reading 5-minute excerpts (OUT LOUD) from any of the "Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2023,” please sign up using this spreadsheet with your preferred reading time.

Reading out loud is not required to attend. Free Banned Books Week stickers, bookmarks, and other library give-aways will be provided.

According to the American Library Association, last year (2023) saw the highest number of challenged books ever, and 47% of titles targeted for censorship last year were related to LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.
