You can use your mobile phone to make 1:1 cloud-encrypted video calls to other people, by ringing their Workspace account or phone number.
Important: This article is about Meet calls available for Business and EDU only. Learn more about Meet calling and meeting offerings.
- For Meet Legacy Calls (previously known as Duo): Make video or voice calls with Google Meet.
- For meetings: Start or schedule a Google Meet video meeting.
Important: Your admin controls your access to Meet. Learn how to turn off Meet meetings and calls for your organization.
By default, users can only receive Meet calls from contacts and other users in their organization. To let your users initiate or receive 1:1 video calls from outside your domain, admins can use the admin control.
Important: The admin control only affects Google Meet calling, not:
- Legacy calling services, previously known as Duo
- Calls in Google Chat
- The ability to join meetings
Before you begin:
- On your mobile device, open the Meet app .
- Select signed-in Business or Education account.
Optional: Add and verify your phone number
This option is still rolling out and might not be available to you yet.
Add and verify your phone number to let people contact you through your phone number in Meet and other Google services. Learn how your phone number is used.
- On your mobile device, tap your Google account profile picture.
- Tap Add your phone number.
- Tap the phone number you want to make and receive Meet calls with or Add a new number Continue.
- If the number you select is:
- Associated with a Google Account, itâs automatically verified.
- Not Associated with a Google account, Google Meet texts a code to the number you enter. Carrier text message rates may apply.
- Enter the code you receive.
- If thereâs an issue, go to the verification troubleshooting article.
- If the number you select is:
Call someone in Google Meet
- On your mobile device, open the Meet app .
- Sign in to your Business or Education account.
- Tap New or Search contacts.
- Search for and select a name.
- If a message âThis contact canât receive calls. Share a Meet link instead.â shows, you can tap Create and share a link.
- You can copy the link or tap Share, then choose a way to send it.
- This occurs if someone hasnât opened their Meet app to receive the update.
- If a message âThis is a legacy callâ shows, that means you're in an organization that allows Meet (legacy) calling, both you and that contact are signed up for Meet (legacy) calling, but the person you're calling hasnât updated their Meet app yet.
- If a contact doesn't show up, tap your Google Account profile picture and switch to your personal account.
- If a message âThis contact canât receive calls. Share a Meet link instead.â shows, you can tap Create and share a link.
- Tap Call.
Tips:
- Before you join a call from the Green Room, you can:
- Mute or unmute your audio.
- Turn your video on or off.
- Add special effects, backgrounds, or filters.
- To find a contactâs information or get your history with a contact:
- Tap the contactâs name.
- At the top right, tap the Menu View details.
- When calling with Google Meet, the recipient(s) will see your name, email, and phone number that are on your Google account.
- If you don't want people to reach you through your phone number, remove it from your account.
- Open Meet on your mobile device and tap your account profile picture.
- Select Manage your Google Account.
- Tap Personal info.
- Under Contact info, tap PHONE tap the phone number you want Google Apps to stop using to reach you.
- Toggle off Better sharing on Google.
Block or report someone
Important: You can "Block" or "Report abuse and block."
- On your mobile device, open the Google Meet app .
- On the search bar, enter the userâs name you want to block.
- Select the personâs name.
- At the top right, tap Contact Options View details.
- Select an option:
- Tap Report abuse.
- Tap the dropdown to select the abuse type.
- Check the box next to âBlock.â
- Tap Submit.
- Tap Block contact.
- If applicable, tap the box next to "Report as spam."
- Tap Block.
- Tap Report abuse.
Unblock someone
- On your mobile device, open the Google Meet app .
- At the top left, tap Open navigation menu.
- Tap Settings Blocked users.
- Tip: For iOS, Tap Settings Account Blocked users.
- Tap the X next to the account or phone number you want to unblock.
