SO LONG, MARIANNE is based on the extraordinary lives of two very normal people, Marianne Ihlen and Leonard Cohen. It’s a story of two equally lonely people falling in love during a period of their life when they are still trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world – and when one of them just happens to become one of the most famous singers of all time. Marianne and Leonard’s story takes place across the world, travelling from Marianne’s home in Oslo to London, New York, and Montreal – with the majority of the series set on the Greek island of Hydra where they lived during the 1960s.
