Always go back to the foundation - ask where they are at now, and how they want to define goals. It's the client that decides on the goals, and the coach's role is to listen to the words that are not spoken out loud.

The key to a successful coach is to address their concerns and understand their objections to goals. Utilize feedback to modify goals and meet customer requirements. Describe the ways in which these goals support your objectives and suggest any suitable alternatives. Provide benchmarks and regular updates to show progress and build confidence. Integrate the client's input in the plan by assisting in setting or revising objectives and increasing investment and backing.

When a client resists set goals, itâs essential to understand their concerns and motivations first. I start by having an open conversation to uncover any obstacles or misconceptions they might have. By aligning goals with their personal values and breaking them into smaller, manageable steps, I ensure they feel achievable. Regular check-ins and celebrating small wins help build confidence and momentum. Itâs also crucial to adjust goals as needed, making them more relevant and motivating. Through this collaborative approach, I empower clients to take ownership of their progress and stay committed to their fitness journey.
