Key features

New features and updates have been added, as described below.

New data table actions have been introduced

New actions that are dedicated to data table use cases are now available, to accommodate the respective operations out of the box:

New data table actions are now available for desktop flows

New Excel actions have been introduced

  • Read formula from Excel
  • Get table range from Excel worksheet
  • Auto fill cells in Excel worksheet

An image-based fallback mechanism is now available for UI elements

Power Automate for desktop now supports a robust fallback mechanism for UI elements. If the configured selectors fail to identify a UI element on the screen, users can now capture a screenshot of the element and set it as an alternative identification method. In instances where UI or browser automation actions are at risk of failing due to unlocated UI elements, the image fallback feature activates. Power Automate for desktop will then search for the UI element using the captured image and interact with it accordingly.

Images can now be used as fallback for UI elements

A new timeout property is available for desktop flows

In the properties pane of a desktop flow in the console of Power Automate for desktop, you can now set a maximum running time, upon which the flow will be forced to time out.

This feature is available for premium users in schema v2 environments.

Embedded connection references are now available in public preview for desktop flows

When you use cloud connector operations in a desktop flow, you now have the ability (in public preview) to embed therein some or all of your connection references. In this way, other co-owners, with whom you have shared your desktop flow, can safely use your connections in the context of that desktop flow. This unlocks cloud-initiated runs in the respective use cases, whereas for console local runs, co-owners will not be required to bring their own connections.

This embedding functionality is available in the details page of the desktop flow in the portal of Power Automate, through the ‘Connection references’ pane.
