Since 2015, Tenesys has been a service provider in the areas of server infrastructure design, implementation of cloud solutions, provision of cloud security and maintenance and monitoring of cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure.

Tenesys' customers include companies operating in fintech, retail and e-commerce broadly defined, scientific research and entertainment, as well as companies based on the shared economy model and platforms selling tickets to sports events. These include Polish companies as well as partners from Germany, Benelux, Sweden, the UK, the US and Australia.

Tenesys supports the development and digital transformation of a number of entities, including the Polish division of Bonnier, one of Sweden's largest media companies with 175 units operating in 16 countries around the world. The company has a presence in a range of media sectors, including press, television, radio, online and books. In Poland, Bonnier is mainly known as the publisher of the dailies "Puls Biznesu" and "Puls Medycyny".

The challenge

The flagship product that Tenesys offers its customers is the maintenance and monitoring of IT infrastructures, i.e. comprehensive care of IT systems to ensure their continuous and efficient operation. Tenesys engineers proactively monitor technical status, respond quickly to any incidents and prevent problems before they occur. As a result, customers can focus on their core business activities, confident that their IT infrastructure is in good hands. Handling the IT infrastructure is a prelude to verifying how it appears and what development work can be implemented. This work is aimed at supporting the customer's business more effectively and protecting it from the risks of outdated technology.

For Bonnier, Tenesys was tasked with getting rid of outdated systems and improving performance, stability and scalability. The DevOps Engineering team was ready to provide Bonnier with the knowledge, experience and support needed to achieve their business goals. To achieve these, they needed to successfully migrate and upgrade based on the solutions the cloud provider offers. Tenesys chose OVHcloud as a partner offering flexibility and efficiency in managing change in technological environments. Also important was the need for continuous monitoring to enable effective optimisation of the infrastructure to be less prone to failover and incidents.

The solution

The migration process was split into multiple stages over several months. Tenesys built the infrastructure in OVHcloud, selecting a suitable cluster on which to deploy the services. State-of-the-art virtualisers were installed and database clusters were deployed to test their performance. The focus was on making changes to the infrastructure and security-related areas. Their main objective was to increase environmental flexibility by facilitating expansion and ensuring reliability. The outdated Xen cluster was transferred to the more modern Proxmox platform.

As part of the migration of resources to OVHcloud, some Proxmox nodes were deployed between two OVHcloud data centres - in Warsaw and Linburg, Germany. This resulted in the introduction of a Private Cloud based on dedicated Bonnier servers. The platform is continuously monitored and maintained with an SLA guarantee. In addition to the migration to OVHcloud, the infrastructure was modified, while the number of Load Balancer and communication paths was simplified. The company has managed to create the most efficient and concise infrastructure, providing Bonnier with optimal working conditions.

The result

OVHcloud's solutions for Bonnier have enabled effective business scaling and financial stability. By implementing the solutions that OVHcloud offers, Tenesys has been able to achieve absolute flexibility and efficiency in managing change in technological environments in a major group like Bonnier. The continuous monitoring that the reports provide has helped, and continues to help, optimise the infrastructure to be less prone to failover or incidents. The localisation of OVHcloud has also proven to be a major benefit - the geographical diversification of data storage, i.e. the ability to keep data on servers in Germany and near Warsaw, has greatly increased the customer's sense of security.

The Bonnier project has taught Tenesys to respond faster and ensure access from the very beginning of the project. Each service is duplicated on a different node in the cluster, ensuring continuity of the customer's systems. A collaborative model has been developed to perform all tasks and respond effectively to critical incidents. Moving data out of the datacenter has helped to drastically reduce costs and accelerate architecture and development side work. The solution has brought additional knowledge and expertise to Tenesys, while providing 24/7 maintenance without having to build a costly internal on-call system.
