Unusual in the tech sector, just for being a British brand, Linsar was set up in 2006 and focused on AV products, especially TVs. Based in Bournemouth in the UK, the company gets its products made in Turkey by manufacturing company Vestel.

It started off small, doing only small-screen TVs and putting a focus on quality and especially sound. The Linsar X24 we tested recently is an example of this, as it comes with what is basically an integrated soundbar, as well as a DVD player and a free Roku streaming stick. Not bad for £300. They now make TVs up to 50 inches in size now, as well as a small selection of washers, dryers and dishwashers. After all, you’ve got to get up off the sofa to wash your clothes occasionally too…

The wonderful thing about Linsar is that there is a great story to tell and that’s exactly what consumers like to hear. It was great to have the brand videos from Linsar to provide all that information. And the customers loved the fact it was a young British company with a very personal story. In fact that’s exactly what we like about Linsar too. We know the guys behind it; no one is hiding behind a big corporate brand, and that is a real bonus”.

“Linsar has long been a go-to brand for affordable TVs; the last we saw in 2012 impressed with its competitive picture and affordable price. The focus is different here. The X24-DVD (rightfully) prides itself on better sound, and with the typical cost of a smart-inclusive Full HD TV of this size around £200, does ask a premium for it.
Is it too much? Probably, considering the TV’s exclusion of smarts. We’d like a more natural-looking picture for a fifth star, too. But for those craving a louder, fuller and more exciting sound for movies or gaming that you usually don’t get from TVs of this size (or bigger, even) and have the cash to spend, the Linsar X24-DVD will make a great little telly for a second room. We know a good idea when we see one, and this TV/soundbar combo is exactly that.

It is certainly encouraging to see a British company doing well in such a competitive market. One thing is for sure; Linsar can expect to reap further rewards, just as long as they keep listening to their customers.

Being a relatively unknown brand to the consumer, the fact that Linsar products come with a five-year warranty really wins them over. And the award from ERT just adds the final endorsement. We’ve sold lots of Linsar because our customers trust us and they take our word that it’s an excellent brand and a British one at that. And last, but not least, it offers a good margin too
