The Okinawa Defense Naval Battle (沖縄防衛海戦), also called the Okinawa Naval Battle (沖縄海戦) was an event where the Great Asian Union attacked Okinawa during the Summer of 2092.

Belligerents

Most of Japan's commanders defending Okinawa were not named with the exception of the officers of the Onna Airborne Troops.

Similar to Japan, the Great Asian Union commanders invading Okinawa were also not named but there are indications that commanders from the invasion of Okinawa are the same officers in the Yokohama Disturbance. .

Even before the battle, GAU submarines have been attacking boats and cruisers in the seas of Okinawa by jamming their radio and using foaming torpedoes to render their propellers useless then abduct any witnesses to make it look like an accident. One of these abduction attempts is on a sail boat that Tatsuya, Miyuki, Miya and Honami were using during their vacation but they were stopped by Tatsuya causing the submarine to retreat.

With the GAU invasion fleet approaching, a battle is inevitable so Yotsuba Maya arranges that Miyuki, along with her mother Miya and her mother's Guardian, Honami to take refuge in the army's shelter in Onna Air Base. Due to internal National Defense Force conflicts with the Left-Bloods, they were caught in a dire situation. Under the effects of Cast Jamming, they couldn't defend themselves. When the Psion waves weakened, Miyuki activated Cocytus and froze the mind of one of the attackers, after which they were shot by the other attackers. Almost dying, Miyuki, Miya and Honami were saved by Tatsuya, who used his innate ability Regrowth. It is revealed afterwards that the insurgents were planning to abduct the man and his family who was also staying in the shelter because he was an important official in the military industry and Miya's family were collateral.

While the GAU is invading Okinawa, the New Soviet Union is also starting an invasion of their own and their objective is Sado Island later to be known as the Invasion of Sado.

Tactical Deployment

Aside from sinking ships in the seas of Okinawa, GAU submarine fleets has control of the waters of Kerama Island and has already deployed landing troops equipped with rifles, grenades and portables missiles on the shore northwest of Nago City. In response, Japan mobilizes its troops to reinforce the garrisons but Insurgent troops that are in contact with GAU use guerrilla tactics to obstruct the movement of their forces from Naha to Nago.

Supporting the GAU landing troops are two High-Speed Cruisers equipped with larger rail guns called Fleming Launchers designed with importance placed on rapid fire style of bombardment which is superior to gun powder cannons in terms of fire power and once in range, even a single ship could turn a town or city into a sea of flames. Protecting the cruisers are two destroyers on each of its flanks from enemy ships. Top-of-the-line warships' anti-ground attack power was said to be over ten times that of one hundred years ago that even a magician would be helpless if soaked in the concentrated artillery fire from the two cruisers.

Tatsuya, accompanied by the Onna Airborne under the command of Captain Kazama, had driven the invading enemy to the water’s edge. Normally, it’d be 'Onna Airborne accompanied by Tatsuya'.

However that single petite magician who stood alone at the head of a solitary infantry platoon, his form hidden beneath a full-faced helmet and Mobile Suit as he annihilated the enemy, could only be seen as such by both friend and foe alike while he also uses Regrowth on the fallen friendly soldiers.

Still enraged, Tatsuya uses Mist Dispersion on the attackers, defeating them almost single-handedly. Tatsuya resolves to drive away the invaders off the island. The battlefield was an utterly one-sided slaughter. GAU solders tried to surrender after their Amphibious Transports were dismantled but Tatsuya continues using Mist Dispersion on them until Yanagi restrains him and causing Tatsuya to calm down.

With their invasion force defeated, the Great Asian Union Fleet composed of two High Speed Cruisers and four Destroyers mobilizes to destroy Onna Air Base. Kazama receives orders to withdraw from the battlefield within twenty minutes, the estimated time for the fleet to be within their firing range but Tatsuya asks to use the Third Eye once again to deal with the incoming enemy fleet but does not want the unit to see him do it to which Kazama agrees but him and Sanada will be staying behind.

To stop the the ships, Tatsuya plans to use "Material Burst" for the first time to destroy them but it takes time to activate and the maximum range he can use it is twelve miles compared the enemy fleet's twenty mile range. Tatsuya tells Kazama and Sanada to withdraw as well but they insist on staying with him and protect him with their own barrier magic from the initial bombardment. Before the second bombardment hits their position, Honami arrives barely in time to use her barrier magic to protect them while Tatsuya activates Material Burst and annihilate the entire GAU fleet and with the fleet destroyed, the battle ends.

• Most of Japanese units who were intercepted by Insurgents have casualties while troops in Tatsuya's group barely suffered casualties due to his Regrowth.

• GAU landing troops suffered heavy casualties from the one-sided slaughter mostly at the hands of an enraged Tatsuya while the survivors voluntarily disarms.

• Honami dies from overuse of her Barrier Magic that causes her Magic Calculation Area to overheat while protecting Tatsuya although he tries to use Regrowth on her, Honami stops him.

• Among the casualties is the fiance of Fujibayashi Kyouko who dies at his first place of duty after joining the army.

• The GAU fleet of cruisers and destroyers by Tatsuya's Material Burst.

Aftermath

• Miyuki started calling Tatsuya "Onii-sama" – starts giving him more respect rather than treating him as just her Guardian, and accepts him as her brother rather than a simple servant.

• A memorial is built in honor of those that have fallen during the battle which Tatsuya and Miyuki visits regularly during Summer Break.

• 'Self determination' as a mindset became predominant as opposed to a management oriented society.

• This is the first time Tatsuya used Regrowth on others (Miyuki, Miya, Honami and later on the soldiers fighting against the Great Asian Union invaders).

• Japan and GAU are still at a state of war with each other despite Japan's victory, no peace treaty with GAU has been made even though no further battle has occurred between them for the next three years.

• Rumors begin circulating about GAU resistance who fled from their government has made their base in Yokohama City but it is an open secret that they're using the city as a base for spy activities and drastic measures such as lockdowns or inspections is not considered by its politicians.

• To remove the National Defense Force's tendency to heavily rely on the Ten Master Clans, a private entity in times of a crisis concerning magicians, Major General Saeki Hiromi establishes the 101 Independent Magic-Equipped Battalion.

• Saeki promotes Captain Kazama to Major and assigns him to be the commanding officer of the 101 IMEB who was cut off from the path to promotion since the Great Indochina War from four years ago.

• First Lieutenant Yanagi and Second Lieutenant Sanada are both promoted to Captain and joins Kazama in the 101 IMEB.

• Tatsuya subsequently joined the 101 Independent Magic-Equipped Battalion as Special Officer Ooguro Ryuuya and became an unregistered Strategic-Class Magician for Japan.

• Kazama introduces Tatsuya to Kokonoe Yakumo to improve his abilities as a magician and in Ninjutsu since finding out that Tatsuya's home the Shiba Residence and Kyuuchouji Temple are both in Fuchuu City, this was Kazama's only choice.

• GAU soldiers that surrendered are eventually released through exchange of captives and they call Tatsuya the awful nickname "Mahesvara", an unknown demon that caused their defeat which begin to spread fear among the rest of the GAU army that their higher echelons denied his existence and their soldiers were forbidden from saying the name aloud.

• One of the GAU Soldiers circumvents the gag order with the phrase referring to Tatsuya's Regrowth as "Divine Left" : Those to whom his left hand extended would return from the jaws of death...

• While Tatsuya's Decomposition is still so feared by the Great Asian Union that even Douglas Huang knows of his power "Demon Right" where and all his right hand pointed to, both man and machine, disappeared.

• During the Yokohama Disturbance, GAU soldiers who fought in Okinawa witnesses the use of Regrowth and Decomposition and they felt like the nightmare they buried years ago has returned and is baring its fang at them once again and the name Mahesvara is heard through out their communication which greatly lowers the morale of the GAU army and allows Ichijou Masaki and Juumonji Katsuto to push back the GAU army in their respective battle fields.

• Kyouko joins the 101 Independent Magic-Equipped Battalion and she becomes known as the Electron Sorceress instead of becoming a magic researcher.

• Thanks to the brave fighting of Left-Bloods the prejudice against them begin to fade away.
