Pavel sustained an undisclosed injury at the Rookie Faceoff and is considered out "for now," Meghan Angley of Guerilla Sports reports.

Pavel doesn't have a specific timeline, but it doesn't appear to be a significant injury. The 24-year-old winger has played in just two NHL games, though he'll be in competition for a bottom-six spot once he's cleared to play preseason games.

McMann (knee) took part in Thursday's practice, per Jonas Siegel of The Athletic.

McMann skated on the third line alongside John Tavares and Nicholas Robertson. That trio might start the campaign together, provided McMann is healthy. The 28-year-old McMann missed Toronto's final two regular-season games and all seven playoff contests due to an MCL sprain.

Sundqvist (knee) will take part in practices during training camp, but he isn't expected to participate in any preseason games, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports Thursday.

Rutherford clarified a previous report from Wednesday, which stated that Sundqvist wouldn't participate in training camp. Sundqvist might still be available for Opening Night, but that remains to be seen. He had six goals and 21 points in 71 appearances with the Blues last season. If he isn't available for the opener against Seattle on Oct. 8, then perhaps Nikita Alexandrov will draw into the lineup after logging just 23 contests with St. Louis in 2023-24.

Bjugstad (upper body) will not be available for the start of training camp and is considered week-to-week, Craig Morgan of ALLCITY Network reports Thursday.

Bjugstad was deemed ready to go Wednesday, so this is a bit of a surprise. The 32-year-old had a good season with the Coyotes last year, scoring 22 times while adding 23 assists in 76 regular-season contests. Look for Bjugstad to garner a role as a middle-six forward once he is healthy.

Weatherby signed a professional tryout agreement with the Oilers on Thursday, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.

Weatherby logged 66 games with AHL Milwaukee in 2023-24, scoring 12 times while adding 13 assists. The 26-year-old played in 50 regular-season games with San Jose during the 2021-22 campaign, picking up five goals and 11 points, but he has not played in the NHL since then.

Couture (groin) will not be available for the start of training camp Thursday.

The 35-year-old missed most of last season, picking up one assist in just six games. Couture had 27 goals and 67 points in 82 regular-season appearances during the 2022-23 campaign and is expected to be counted upon to be a veteran presence as the Sharks look towards their young prospects like Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith and William Eklund to lead them offensively in the coming years.

Samoskevich is dealing with an upper-body injury and won't be an option for either of Florida's preseason games against Nashville on Sunday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports Thursday.

Samoskevich is expected to resume working with the main group as soon as Tuesday. The 21-year-old had 22 goals and 54 points in 62 regular-season contests with AHL Charlotte in 2023-24. Assuming he recovers in time, Samoskevich will be in the mix for a spot on the Panthers' Opening Night roster.

Jarventie has a knee injury that is expected to keep him out of training camp, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports Thursday.

Gregor adds that Jarventie should be ready to go within two weeks. Jarventie was acquired in July in a trade that sent Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson to the Senators. The 22-year-old Jarventie had 20 points in 22 outings with AHL Belleville and one assist over seven games in the NHL. The winger was likely going to miss out on the Oilers' Opening Night roster, and if his recovery lags, he could end up on the season-opening injured reserve list.

Neighbours (upper body) is at practice for the start of training camp Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Neighbours had a breakout campaign in 2023-24, scoring 27 goals and adding 11 assists in 77 regular-season contests. He missed the last five games of the season with his upper-body injury, but he is now healthy and ready for the start of the season. Neighbours is likely to begin the campaign on the top line and see plenty of power-play time, as he had eight goals and 14 points with the man-advantag last year.

Bjorkstrand (undisclosed) practiced Thursday with the Kraken, Alison Lukan of Root Sports reports.

Bjorkstrand suffered an injury during Denmark's Olympic qualifying game versus Great Britain three weeks ago. Bjorkstrand hit the 20-goal mark for the third straight season in 2023-24, as well as the fifth time in the last six campaigns. Bjorkstrand was stellar on the power play as well last season, picking up 25 of his 59 points with the extra attacker.

Okposo announced his retirement from hockey Thursday, according to his agent at CAA Hockey.

Okposo went out on top as he won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Panthers last season. The 36-year-old had two assists in 10 playoff games while managing 12 goals and 22 points in 67 regular-season contests between Buffalo and Florida. Okposo ends his NHL career with 242 goals and 372 assists in 1,051 appearances of regular-season action.

Lazar (upper body) is healthy at training camp Thursday, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.

Lazar is expected to be a fourth-line winger with the Devils. He had the best offensive season in his career in 2023-24, scoring seven goals and adding 18 assists in 71 games, as New Jersey failed to make the playoffs. Look for a 20-25 point season from Lazar in 2024-25.

Pesce (lower leg) is considered week-to-week, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports Thursday.

Pesce missed Carolina's final nine playoff games due to a fractured fibula. He signed a six-year, $33 million contract with the Devils over the summer. When healthy, Pesce is likely to serve in a top-four capacity, though he probably won't receive much, if any, power-play ice time.

Hanley (undisclosed) participated in the Thursday's practice, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

Hanley missed Calgary's final eight contests in 2023-24 due to an undisclosed injury, but it appears he's ready for the upcoming campaign. He had a goal and five points in 42 contests last season. Hanley was paired with Tyson Barrie, who is joining Calgary's training camp on a tryout basis, during the practice.

Seider signed a seven-year, $59.85 million contract with the Red Wings on Thursday.

Seider was a restricted free agent, and this agreement, along with locking Lucas Raymond up to an eight-year, $64.6 million contract Monday, puts Detroit's books in order going into the 2024-25 campaign. As is the case with Raymond's deal, Seider's cap hit ($8.55 million) looks solid now for what he brings to the table and could become tremendous value as he continues to develop and the salary cap increases further. The 23-year-old defenseman had nine goals and 42 points in 82 contests last season, making it the third straight campaign in which he surpassed the 40-point mark. Seider is expected to enter the season as a member of Detroit's top four and receive steady work with the man advantage.

Bean (hand) is ready to go for the start of the season, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports Thursday.

Bean is practicing with the first group at camp after missing the last six games of the regular season with Columbus in 2023-24. Bean had four goals and 13 points with 110 blocked shots in 72 regular-season contests with the Blue Jackets last year. Columbus did not give Bean a qualifying offer and the 26-year-old defenseman signed with his hometown team. Bean is expected to be a third-pairing defenseman with Calgary this season.

Bahl will not practice Thursday and is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Bahl was dealt to Calgary in June, with Jacob Markstrom going to New Jersey. Bahl is expected to be a second-pairing defenseman this season. The 24-year-old had only a goal and 11 points in 82 regular-season games in 2023-24, but he did manage 151 hits and 103 blocked shots for the Devils.

Dahlin (undisclosed) is expected to sit out only a couple of days after he was injured during practice Wednesday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

Dahlin is doing well according to coach Lindy Ruff. The talented bleuliner had 20 goals and 59 points in 81 regular-season games last year, which was a drop from 2022-23 when he managed 73 points in 78 games as a 22 year old. Dahlin should be a top-five pick among defensemen in most fantasy drafts this season.

Merilainen is dealing with a groin injury that isn't expected to be serious, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

It's unclear when Merilainen suffered the injury, but it doesn't look to be a long-term concern. The 22-year-old goalie is likely to spend much of this season at AHL Belleville as a No. 3 option in goal for the Senators' organization. Linus Ullmark and Anton Forsberg are likely to get the bulk of the NHL starts.

Demko (knee) has made a lot of progress over the last 2-3 weeks, but said Thursday there is still no timetable for his return, Harman Dayal of The Athletic reports.

Demko also said that he had a minor procedure done in the offseason that was unrelated to his knee injury. Demko stated that he has an unique injury -- a lower-body muscle injury -- and hasn't found any hockey player with a similar injury. Should Demko miss the start of the regular season, look for Arturs Silovs to take over the No. 1 job with the Canucks.

Dell penned a professional tryout agreement with the Sharks on Thursday, according to Max Miller of NHL.com.

Dell spent last season in the AHL, going 7-4-1 with a 2.57 GAA and a .914 save percentage with the Kings' farm team in Ontario. Dell last played at the NHL level during the 2022-23 campaign, losing all three games for the Sharks while allowing nine goals and 103 shots.

Askarov will miss the start of training camp with a lower-body injury.

Askarov is expected to be the No. 1 goaltender with the Sharks this season, after he was dealt from Nashville on Aug. 23. The 11th overall pick by the Predators in 2020, Askarov is considered by many to be the best goaltender not playing in the NHL. He was 30-13-1 with a 2.39 GAA and a .911 save percentage for AHL Milwaukee last season.

Tokarski inked a professional tryout agreement with the Senators on Thursday.

Tokarski played in the Buffalo organization in 2023-24 but did not appear in a game with the Sabres. He played four contests the previous season with Pittsburgh, going 1-2-0 with a 3.44 GAA and an .897 save percentage. Tokarski will likely return to AHL Belleville this season and be a depth goaltender with the Senators.

Lehner (hip) was not at training camp Wednesday to undergo a yearly mandatory medical test, per RDS.ca.

To qualify for long-term injured reserve -- which Lehner has been on for each of the last two years -- a player must be checked and proven medically unfit to play. Lehner's absence from the Golden Knights' first day of camp has led to the team potentially pursuing a contract termination, which would get them fully out from under his $5 million cap hit. While this situation will have salary cap implications for the Golden Knights and could also impact the NHLPA's relations with the league, it doesn't change the fact that Lehner has likely played his last NHL game and won't suit up in 2024-25 while in the last year of his contract.
