Blues' Oskar Sundqvist: Joining practices
Sundqvist (knee) will take part in practices during training camp, but he isn't expected to participate in any preseason games, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports Thursday.
Rutherford clarified a previous report from Wednesday, which stated that Sundqvist wouldn't participate in training camp. Sundqvist might still be available for Opening Night, but that remains to be seen. He had six goals and 21 points in 71 appearances with the Blues last season. If he isn't available for the opener against Seattle on Oct. 8, then perhaps Nikita Alexandrov will draw into the lineup after logging just 23 contests with St. Louis in 2023-24.

Blues' Jake Neighbours: Ready to rock
Neighbours (upper body) is at practice for the start of training camp Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Neighbours had a breakout campaign in 2023-24, scoring 27 goals and adding 11 assists in 77 regular-season contests. He missed the last five games of the season with his upper-body injury, but he is now healthy and ready for the start of the season. Neighbours is likely to begin the campaign on the top line and see plenty of power-play time, as he had eight goals and 14 points with the man-advantag last year.

Blues' Adam Jiricek: Rehabbing knee injury
Jiricek (knee) will conclude his rehab in St. Louis during training camp before being assigned to OHL Brantford for 2024-25, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Jiricek will be around the Blues' camp, but it doesn't look like he'll see much preseason action. It doesn't appear Jiricek will miss a large portion of the campaign. The defense-first blueliner will get some experience in junior hockey after playing in his native Czechia with HC Plzen in 2023-24.

Blues' Scott Harrington: Accepts professional tryout
Harrington will join the Blues' training camp after inking a professional tryout agreement, the team announced Wednesday.
Harrington registered four assists in 14 regular-season games with Zurich of the Swiss League last year. The 31-year-old blueliner is a veteran of 255 career NHL games and might be in the mix to earn a spot on the Blues' roster as the seventh defenseman.

Blues' Matthew Peca: Grabs PTO
Peca agreed to terms on a professional tryout agreement with St. Louis on Wednesday.
Peca last played in the NHL back in 2021-22 with the Blues, logging five games for the club that year in which he notched one assist, three shots and three hits. At best, Peca could land a two-way deal that will allow him to be periodically called up from the minors.

Blues' Sam Bitten: Signs professional tryout
Bitten inked a professional tryout agreement with the Blues, the team announced Wednesday.
Bitten had a goal, three points and 75 PIM in 29 contests with AHL Springfield in 2023-24. Although the 24-year-old isn't expected to make St. Louis' Opening Night roster, he might be able to earn a two-way contract with a good showing during the preseason.

Sundqvist suffered a torn ACL on March 25 and was initially projected to be reevaluated in six months. Seeing him back on the ice ahead of training camp is encouraging, but it remains to be seen if the 30-year-old forward will be ready for the regular season. Blues' Torey Krug: Won't play this season
Krug is set for ankle surgery to address pre-arthritic problems and will miss the entire 2024-25 campaign, the team announced Tuesday.
Krug's ankle problem was originally announced back in July with a 6-8 week recovery timeline, but it seems the issue couldn't be addressed without surgical intervention. The team may have had an idea that this was coming, considering they pried Philip Broberg from the Oilers with an offer sheet while also signing free agents Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Ryan Suter to one-year deals. With Krug, who figures to land on long-term injured reserve, out of action, Scott Perunovich could see the biggest uptick in ice time.

Blues' Quinton Burns: Signs entry-level contract
Burns penned a three-year, entry-level deal with the Blues on Friday.
The 19-year-old blueliner was selected in the third round -- 74th overall -- in 2023. He was sent back to OHL Kingston during training camp last season and managed six goals and 35 points in 58 regular-season games. He is slated to return to Kingston for another junior season in 2024-25.

Blues' Dylan Holloway: Contract offer unmatched
Holloway will officially sign with the Blues on a two-year, $4.58 million contract after the Oilers opted not to match the offer Tuesday.
Holloway is far from a lock for the Opening Night lineup. He figures to be in a battle for ice time with Mathieu Joseph and Kasperi Kapanen but should at least have the opportunity to make an impression during training camp. In his 38 NHL appearances last year, the 22-year-old Holloway showed flashes of his offensive game, recording six goals and three assists while also dishing out 90 hits.

Blues' Philip Broberg: Offer sheet not matched
Broberg officially signed a two-year, $9.16 million contract with St. Louis after Edmonton didn't match the offer Tuesday.
Broberg played in just 12 NHL games for the Oilers last season, registering two assists, four hits and six shots in 11:37 of ice time per game. With his new team, the blueliner should have the opportunity to compete for regular minutes, though he will face tough competition from the likes of Scott Perunovich and Pierre-Olivier Joseph -- not to mention veteran Ryan Suter.

Blues' Torey Krug: Dealing with ankle injury
Krug was diagnosed with pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle and will be evaluated in 6-8 weeks.
That timeline puts Krug's next check-up at just before training camp. If his ankle gets worse, surgery is on the table, which would cost him the entire 2024-25 campaign. As is, it's likely the defenseman misses at least some time early in the season since his offseason ramp-up will be disrupted. If Krug misses the year, it could lead to a full-time role for Pierre-Olivier Joseph on the third pairing, while Scott Perunovich and Justin Faulk would figure to get the most additional power-play time.

Blues' Ryan Suter: Links up with St. Louis
Suter signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Blues on Wednesday.
Suter was bought out by the Stars in June, the second time he's been bought out since 2021. The 39-year-old defenseman has the ability to earn an additional $2.225 million in performance bonuses. Suter remains capable as a third-pairing defenseman, but after posting 17 points in 82 regular-season contests last year, there is virtually no upside in his game for fantasy purposes.

Jiricek signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Blues on Tuesday.
The Blues wasted no time getting Jiricek under contract after the defenseman was drafted 16th overall Friday. The blueliner's fantasy value is likely to be limited even in dynasty formats since he is more of a physical force than a scoring threat. Jiricek will probably need at least a couple of years of development before threatening for an NHL roster spot.

Blues' Pierre-Olivier Joseph: Lands one-year contract
Joseph signed a one-year, $950,000 contract with St. Louis on Tuesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Joseph compiled two goals, nine assists, 42 shots on net, 44 blocked shots and 47 hits across 52 regular-season contests with Pittsburgh in 2023-24. He will add some depth to the blue line of St. Louis. Ottawa traded forward Mathieu Joseph to the Blues on Tuesday, allowing Pierre-Olivier to be on the same team as his older brother.

Blues' Pavel Buchnevich: Signs six-year extension
Buchnevich agreed to terms on a six-year, $48 million contract extension with St. Louis on Tuesday.
Buchnevich has reached the 60-point threshold in each of the past three seasons with the Blues, including hitting the 25-goal mark in all of those campaigns. There is no reason to expect any sort of production drop-off for the Russian winger heading into 2024-25, so fantasy players should be looking at him in the early rounds of re-draft formats.

Faksa registered seven goals, 19 points, 71 shots on net and 97 hits over 74 regular-season outings with the Stars in 2023-24. As a member of the Blues, he will likely occupy a bottom-six role and see plenty of action on the penalty kill.

Blues' Mathieu Joseph: Brought in via trade
Joseph was traded to the Blues from the Senators on Tuesday along with a 2025 third-round pick in a swap for future considerations.
Joseph's departure from Ottawa will see the Senators save $2.95 million against the cap in each of the next two seasons, but it'll cost them a third-round pick to get the Blues to pick up the contract. For his part, the 27-year-old winger is coming off a career season in which he set new personal bests in assists (24), points (35) and shots (124). The Quebec native should slot into a middle-six role with his new club and could be considered for minutes with the second power-play unit.

Blues' Corey Schueneman: Joining St. Loo
Schueneman signed a one-year, two-way deal with St. Louis on Monday, per PuckPedia.
Schueneman spent last year with AHL Colorado, scoring 22 points in 67 total games between the regular season and playoffs. He has 31 games of NHL experience and will give the Blues some extra organizational depth on the blue line.
