Kasumi Miwa (三 (み) 輪 (わ) 霞 (かすみ) , Miwa Kasumi^?) is a character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. She is a second-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High.

Appearance

Kasumi has long, light blue hair with that extends past her shoulders and frame her forehead. She also has dark, triangular eyebrows and asymmetric bangs.

Kasumi wears a black, long-sleeved jacket over a light-colored button-down shirt and a black tie, pants, socks, shoes, and a belt that she uses to hold her sword.

While training, Kasumi has her hair tied in a ponytail and wears a dark-colored track suit.

Personality

Kasumi is a kind hearted, hard-working girl who isn't as jaded as some of her classmates. She's much more restrained, down to earth, and behaves otherwise normally. Kasumi wants to be a sorcerer to make money and is a fan of Satoru Gojo. Despite being ordered to do so by the principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji, Kasumi was uncomfortable about her class' attempt on Yuji Itadori's life and apologizes for it later. The reason she tries so hard to succeed as a jujutsu sorcerer is that she wants to support her two younger brothers, showing her caring and steadfast attitude.

She constantly calls herself useless and genuinely fears that her weakness causes trouble for others trying to protect her. Kasumi admits to gripping her sword tightly out of fear of dying; however, with the right motivation, she is willing to risk her life against a stronger enemy. This trait was shown again during the Jujutsu High sorcerer's battle against Sukuna, as she wasted no time arriving to protect Maki Zenin from Sukuna's domain's sure-hit slashes with Simple Domain.

Overall Skill Level: Kasumi is a jujutsu sorcerer who uses the New Shadow Style swordsmanship techniques. She is about the level of an average sorcerer but her lack of an innate cursed technique is made up by her work ethic. She is capable of using her sword and New Shadow Style techniques effectively displayed when she exorcised several curses in a single sword stroke during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. However, she was no match for Maki during the Goodwill Event and her efforts against a powerful sorcerer like Pseudo-Geto were useless in Shibuya as well.

Cursed Techniques

Binding Vows
	Kasumi made a binding vow during her attack on Pseudo-Geto to enhance the slash from her Batto Sword Drawing by vowing to never swing a katana again. However, the sword was blocked and crushed by Pseudo-Geto with his hand.

New Shadow Style Techniques

New Shadow Style: Simple Domain (シン・陰 (かげ) 流 (りゅう) 　簡 (かん) 易 (い) 領 (りょう) 域 (いき) , Shin Kageryū: Kan'i Ryōiki?) begins after Kasumi assumes the proper stance, creating a domain with a 2.21-meter radius around her. Anything that enters this space is automatically intercepted by Kasumi's blade. As part of the binding vow to perform Simple Domain, if both of Kasumi's feet leave the position where her stance began, the technique is dispelled.

Batto Sword Drawing (抜 (ばっ) 刀 (とう) , Battō?) is a New Shadow Style technique that uses cursed energy to surround Kasumi's blade when sheathed and rotates it to create incredible speed when she draws the blade. It is the fastest sword-drawing technique of the New Shadow Style.

Semi-Cursed Tools

Katana: Kasumi carries a katana along with herself all the time as it is her primary weapon in combat and mainly uses it to perform New Shadow Style techniques. Originally a regular sword, it is considered a semi-cursed tool due to being imbued with Kasumi's cursed energy for a long time. Maki disarmed her katana and stole it from her during their confrontation. Later on, it was broken by Maki while using it against Hanami. Later on, she obtained another katana that she used during the end of the Shibuya Incident before the blade was broken by Pseudo-Geto.

• Kasumi's surname contains the kanji for "three" (三, mi^?) and "ring, circle, loop, hoop" (輪, wa^?) while her first name contains "fog, mist, haze" (霞, kasumi^?).
  • Together, her surname means "three wheels" (三輪).
    • According to the author notes, she loves trendy things which is why her name is "Miwa", a Japanese homonym for a word that means "someone who follows trends".
