Kiyotaka Ijichi ( () () () (きよ) (たか) Ijichi Kiyotaka?) is a character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is the assistant director at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Appearance

Kiyotaka is a relatively tall man with a slim figure with mid-length black hair that shapes his head and parts across the front of his forehead. He has small black eyes and normally wears glasses. He has curved black eyebrows and sunken cheeks that give him a resting bored expression across his face most of the time. Kiyotaka sports a normal manager's uniform, which includes a black suit and tie attire.

Personality

Ijichi's calm and professional demeanour.

Kiyotaka is a calm, rational, and reserved individual who maintains an authoritative and professional composure as assistant director for Jujutsu High. He is a highly responsible and mature person who takes his job very seriously. He is an authoritative figure responsible for auxiliary managers and students, with whom he shares respectful relationships. His cares for them and is dismayed anytime an ally perishes. Ijichi regretted allowing Yuji to die at the detention center and tried to avoid making the same mistake by stopping him from confronting Junpei Yoshino.[3]

Having originally trained to be a full-fledged jujutsu sorcerer, Kiyotaka can maintain his nerve even in dangerous situations. During the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, Kiyotaka faced the Hasaba twins after they had just murdered several managers. Not only did Kiyotaka stand his ground, but he tried to talk the young sorcerers out of their actions.[4] Kiyotaka also assumed heavy responsibility during the Shibuya Incident, taking charge of all the auxiliary managers and supervising communication between sorcerers.[5]

Kiyotaka can be more reserved and nervous around people he attended Jujutsu High with. His confidence is heavily shaken by Satoru Gojo and Kento Nanami especially, constantly fearing they'll punish him for making a mistake.[6] Gojo's playful attitude and complete disregard for regulations make Kiyotaka much more anxious compared to his ordinary demeanor.[7]

When they were students, Gojo made Kiyotaka stop pursuing the path of a sorcerer by casually calling him useless and threatening to slap him if he didn't quit. This made Kiyotaka believe Gojo believed less of him. He even believed Gojo would've preferred if he died instead of Nanami in Shibuya. Later in life, Kiyotaka realized how Gojo was trying to protect him. Kiyotaka learned how much Gojo has always trusted him and put his life on the line in the fight against Sukuna to live up to the strongest's faith in him.[8][9]

Abilities and Powers

Overall Skill Level: Ijichi attended Tokyo Jujutsu High intending to become a jujutsu sorcerer. While he does not possess an innate technique, Ijichi can conjure shikigami and cast barriers.[2] Rather than a sorcerer, Ijichi is the assistant director of Tokyo Jujutsu High and can be considered the head authority over all auxiliary managers. He is highly knowledgeable on jujutsu, which helps make him an asset on any mission, especially with students. Often tasked with overseeing the assignments of young jujutsu sorcerers, Ijichi specializes in guiding sorcerers on their assignments while also using curtains to maintain secrecy.

Ijichi is also fully capable of overseeing and directing multiple teams of sorcerers and managers as if needed as well. During the Shibuya Incident when communications were down, Ijichi recognized that the managers were crucial and made it a priority to use them to communicate with sorcerers inside the city. Managers like Ijichi were targeted during the incident by Haruta Shigemo for this very reason, proving how much of a major asset is Ijichi despite his low combat ability.

Cursed Techniques

Barrier Techniques

Anyone with enough cursed energy is capable of learning to deploy a barrier. Ijichi uses this to conceal Gojo's Hollow Technique: Purple when attacking Sukuna.[10]
Ijichi's curtain (Anime) Curtain ( (とばり) Tobari?): Ijichi can create a barrier that surrounds a certain area to protect civilians from battlefield.
